VOIP

Free telephone calls to everyone online, or very (very) cheap calls to land lines. This is one of the phones we are testing, click here
(supplied by a local firm in Horwich), the phone plugs directily into your pc's usb port and once you have downloaded a suitable programme (tested google talk and skype today and it works) you just plug it in and get talking. Phones cost around £25, ring round the world's PCs free or buy 10 Euros of skype credit and ring landlines for under 2p a minute.
(You can use a headset or a microphone and speakers if you prefer).

If you get a phone or headset then do add me to your list to do a test call, my skype name is:
wraychris

and my google talk name is:
conder@gmail.com

aim: wennetchris

I have found google talk to be the best for clarity so far, but it doesn't do video yet, and it doesn't call landlines yet, so maybe skype is the easiest for the time being? If you want a google talk invite just email me for one, conder@gmail.com

Just spoken to Pod in Australia via skype, I rang his landline,7 minutes and it cost .10 euros which is about 5pence I think. He is going to post some pictures on the wrayvillage blog which is found here: http://wrayvillage.blogspot.com
He is off up to Darwin this week then on to New Zealand.
