B4RN - Broadband for the Rural North is a site worth visiting if you live in the Lune Valley or Trough of Bowland. Its a community cooperative laying fibre to every single property in 8 parishes, providing futurproof internet access to people in an area with very little connectivity.

The following link is to a really good blog post by Barry Forde. Barry built the Cleo network and has done a plan to bring broadband access to everyone in rural areas. This post has attracted many comments, which Barry has answered. It is well worth a read if you are interested in getting a decent connection for your community.
