Welcome to all new members
Hi there, and welcome to the blogspot for Old Wennington. Feel free to post comments here and ask questions. Everyone in the group can post, and working together we can document our engagement in the project to bring broadband to a small group of Rural Businesses that the world was leaving behind as the Digital Divide grows ever wider...

Thanks to funding from the NWDA and help from the LDDA, Rural Matrix and Lancaster University, a cluster of rural people denied access to the WWW through geography have joined together and brought the broadband into their valley via wireless mesh technology.
This project was accomplished in a month from start to finish, and the initial installation of the mesh took three days.
Beta testing and final configuration will be finished during August, in time to start case studies for the funders - the North West Development Agency.
Power to the people.

As an independent observer of the work over the last month to connect this group of small businesses in a deeply rural area, I have to say I am extremely impressed by the enthusiasm, dedication and determination of this group.
I hope that the benefits of broadband will now be reaped by these businesses, and through this Blog it will become obvious to more biz and citizens in this and other rural areas just what _IS_ possible in places that the telcos can't always reach - for technical or financial reasons.
Best of luck.

This is a link to another blog, which has instructions on how to get an adsl connection to work in your home. If you try all this and it still fails then contact us and we will get you on to our wireless network if at all possible.
